In a big news that is making headlines, Indian e-eCommerce giant Snapdeal acquires Hyderabad-based technology start-up MartMobi. MartMobi provides platform to the eCommerce business to have an instant mobile presence without getting into technicalities of writing code etc.  MartMobi was started  by Satya Krishna Ganni (CEO) and Pramod Nair (CTO) in December 2012 who had earlier co-founded LearnSocial which is a platform for people who want to teach.

This step by Snapdeal seems to be coming from the intent to grab the mobile market because within India the mobile presence is increasing with the light speed. Also, recently it’s competitor Flipkart not only made Myntra go only mobile app but has also said that even Flipkart can go only app because it’s maximum revenue is generated from app. With a funding from Softbank and also personal investment made by Ratan Tata, this year Snapdeal seems to be on acquisition mode. They have already bought logistic firm  GoJavas to strengthen its logistic needs after repetitive complain about the bad supply chain, followed by a financial services firm Rupee Power and finally the their biggest acquisition of FreeCharge a month ago.

Someone rightly said ” In old times war was business and today business is war”, we can see the same aspect here in the  Indian e-commerce industry today.
